The brouhaha has died down a bit now - in part because folks are seeing the upswing I promised, and in part because folks are distracted by the upcoming crossover. With the rage-storm behind us, I want to give a collective thanks to the folks who voiced their support, those who helped correct false notions, and those who brought their concerns forward in a calm and thoughtful manner. I know not everyone was 100% satisfied with the answers I gave, but part of that is professional discretion (and restriction), and part of it is time. I've said it before and I'll say it again: "Yooooou'll see."
One thing I'd like to bring up, though, is the... fervent degree some folks are marshaling to my side. I don't want to sound ungrateful, because a random comment from a pleased fan brightens my day. But I'm also seeing a lot of of dismissive or overly confrontational words of support in my favor, and that doesn't really help me or anybody else.
I'm flattered some of you guys think I qualify as a "genius," and even more so that I can be an inspiration. And while I don't want to invalidate your praise, keep in mind that I'm not everyone's cup of tea, nor am I infallible. I've made my mistakes and I have my shortcomings as much as anyone else. And just because someone doesn't like the current direction of the books, that doesn't mean they're not a "true fan." It just means they have a different preference. They've got just as much right to enjoy the books (or not) and the franchise on a whole as the rest of us.
So while I certainly appreciate folks readily coming to my defense, can I ask y'all to be classy about it? Don't just dismiss someone's argument with a hand-wave. If they have a point, discuss it. Debate it. Have a counterpoint other than "don't be hatin' on Flynn." And if that person just won't budge (like how I'm anti-Amy/Sally/Archie/Sega - I've heard it all) then be the bigger person and walk away. Spend more time enjoying my works than defending them. It's more fun for y'all, I promise.
Speaking of those works, they currently are:
Sonic the Hedgehog
Sonic Universe
Mega Man
New Crusaders (www.redcirclecomics.com)
And because it's been a while, some general notes:
- I'm crazy-busy, now more than ever, and I can't keep up with Notes and comments on DA. If you really need to get in touch with me, please do so through the forum on my website (www.bumbleking.com)
- I cannot and WILL NOT look at fan-ideas. It protects y'all from me accidentally reusing an idea down the road, and it protects me from accusations of stealing ideas from others. Sorry!
- If you leave an incredibly obscene or offensive comment, I will hide it. I won't delete it, your comment will remain, but no one else with be forced to endure it.
- Uploading scans of the comics on DA, YouTube or wherever is illegal. Please report them to the proper admins.

Final Journal Entry
It’s been almost two years, so might as well update this.
I do not read Notes or Comments here. The FAQ and biography cover all the useful links.
FAQ
Are you REALLY Ian Flynn? The Sonic comic guy?
Yes I am. You can check out my website and my body of work at www.BumbleKing.com
Awesome! I love your art in the comics!
That's flattering - but I don't do the art. I'm the writer. I compose the manuscripts the art team uses to produce the book. I've done concept art, though. Some you can find here on dA, some you can find in the graphic novel collections. I'm a decent doodler, but I leave the REAL art to the skilled profes
New Stuff! BumbleKast and Lost Hedgehog Tales
First off, if you're not reading the FAQ below, you're getting a cranky look from me when you Note me or ask questions already answered/answered on my website. It's been years, folks. I can only do so much.
Secondly - whoops! Haven't updated this in a while. Then again, as the FAQ below points out (*cough*) I'm not using this account for much other than art-watching and keeping in contact with folks.
Third - the actual news! I've begun a biweekly podcast - the BumbleKast! My co-host and I talk about games, science-y news, movies, and whatever tickles our fancy. And every show ends with a Q&A. Also, I've finally begun releasing "
Raiders of the Abyss!
Late last year, I ran a poll to get feedback on a monthly project, directed in part by patrons' donations. I got my feedback, I did my prep work, and now the project is live: "Raiders of the Abyss!" The first chapter is up and it is FREE.

Enjoy! Thanks to everyone who voted in the poll, and I hope you continue to support the project!

New Project + FAQ Update
Right! So I had an idea for a new project, and involves reader input. Please head on over to www.BumbleKing.com, read up on the project proposal, and vote. For or against, it helps me get an idea of how viable the project is.
Also added a little bit more to the FAQ. Another question I get a lot but simply can't answer.

I've read all of the Sonic comics and I do have to say your sagas are definitely some of my favorites.
